Our story

The world's first flexible window screen

FlexScreen began when inventor Joe Altieri set up shop in his garage and reimagined a product that had barely changed in over a century. Today it is a patented, Shark Tank–backed innovation — and FlexScreen Europe brings it to your home.

A problem worth solving

Joe Altieri is a third-generation entrepreneur who spent more than twenty years in the window industry. He knew traditional aluminium screens inside out — and their weaknesses too: flimsy frames, complicated installation, constant damage and endless customer complaints. When a major manufacturer dropped a pile of broken screens on a table and told him to fix it, Joe knew the industry needed something entirely new.

Born in a garage, built to last

In 2013 Joe went all-in. After years of trial and error in his garage, he created FlexScreen: a flexible frame forged from oil-tempered spring steel with a robust PVC coating, and mesh vinyl-welded directly to the frame so it cannot sag or come loose. Multiple patents followed. For the first time in decades, window screening looked completely different — invisible in the rebate, installed in seconds, without tools.

From manufacturers to millions of homes

FlexScreen was first sold to window manufacturers and dealers. When adoption was slower than hoped, Joe expanded to direct-to-consumer sales and invested heavily in digital marketing. That visibility reached producers at ABC's hit show Shark Tank — and they invited him to pitch to a national audience.

Shark Tank

Joe Altieri appeared on Shark Tank Season 11, Episode 10 in January 2020, pitching to more than 30 million viewers. He entered the Tank seeking $800,000 for 6% equity. Three of the five Sharks competed for FlexScreen. Lori Greiner — the "Queen of QVC" and Joe's preferred partner from the start — won the deal with $400,000 in cash and a $400,000 credit line in exchange for 10% equity. Sales soared. FlexScreen returned for update segments, including Season 12, as the brand grew across America.

“Our goal with FlexScreen is to replace the window screen industry completely.”
